Video Marketing

Did you know that using the word “video” in the subject of your email         makes it 13% more likely to be opened?

Video spread through the world during the late 1990s and now we live in a world where moving images surround us from all sides.  The medium’s popularity stems from its flexibility–not only video, but text, images, sounds, links, podcasts, infographics, and more can all be put into one video. Video in itself is multimedia.

Video has moved out of the movie theater and into the streets, our homes, and our hands, too.  It has taken over transportation: cars, trains, planes all have adopted this powerful tool that grabs and holds our attention like no other.

Our eyes are captured by moving screens so video marketing is essential for brands to attract customers.  When introduced to a product or cause through video, in fact, people become 64% more likely to invest in it.

Now, video equals visibility.  With over 80% of traffic being dominated by video by 2021, companies are investing heavily in the power of video.  Video is key to remaining competitive in the market.

Humans are visual creatures.  We need to see in order to believe, and video taps into that instinct.  As opposed to still pictures or drawings, a video shows a product in action and simulates the value of it.  Consumers can imagine themselves using the product and engage with them easily in a way pictures struggle to.  In this age where consumers are becoming increasingly critical, almost 70% of millennials will watch a company-produced video of their product before purchasing it.  Video is seen as a vital step in proving product quality and user-friendliness.

Tired of reading yet?  Don’t worry, you’re not alone.  In 2013, studies showed that the human attention span has dropped down to 8 seconds.  That’s less than a goldfish’s!  Videos under 2 minutes long do best at keeping the audience in their seats because compared to text, videos capture the senses of sight/movement and sound, making them easier to digest.

Video also succeeds in keeping people’s attention–the information retention rate for video is a baffling 95% while people that are reading only retain 10%.  Our brains love video so much that studies show that we share videos on social media 1200% more than text.
